"What's in all these drugs?"

Prescription Drugs represent a growing cost in workers' compensation claims, and an increasingly complex aspect of medical care. Adjusters, case managers and attorneys for both claimants and employers/insurers will benefit from this overview of most commonly prescribed drugs, "off label" prescriptions, drug interaction concerns and methods to identify and avoid the abuse of prescribed medications.

Philosophy is defined as the "systematic study of rational, critical thinking." This session will focus on how to assess an injured worker’s credibility prior to a hearing.

SOCIOLOGY 303 CAREER PLANNING AND PLACEMENT

This session will focus on issues surrounding vocational rehabilitation of our injured employee. A multi-disciplinary panel will discuss topics to include issues of job placement versus training, the role of vocational rehabilitation in minimizing industrial loss, opportunities to evaluate the cost-benefit of vocational rehabilitation services and what to expect when issues of returning the claimant to suitable gainful employment are considered in evaluating disability and industrial loss.

This is a famous quote from the movie classic, Cool Hand Luke, which helps to illustrate the difficulty in communicating effectively when one of the parties does not speak English or is hearing impaired. If effective communication is important to you, you won't want to miss this session. The Workers' Compensation Commission will share valuable tips on utilizing the Commission's interpretive services including proper hearing procedures where an interpreter is in use.
