MEDICAL IMAGING
Is A Picture Worth a Thousand Procedures?
Advances in medical imaging now give clinicians detailed anatomic information. However, radiologic studies can sometimes miss things (false negative) or provide too much information (false positive), and are often open to interpretation. This panel will discuss the different perspectives of a spine surgeon, radiologist and interventional pain physician on interpreting scans and how that affects their diagnostic and treatment planning.

THE ART AND SCIENCE OF ELECTRODIAGNOSTIC TESTING
Nerve conduction studies and electromyography are the only truly objective tests for assessing the extent of physiologic damage to nerves and muscles in the limbs. Results rely on interpreting the images obtained on the testing screen. If these images are not obtained
appropriately, the interpretation can be incorrect and lead to inappropriate diagnoses and treatment. This session will review the basics of what constitutes a proper EMG examination.
