The "American" workplace is changing. There has been a significant increase in the number of non-English or limited-English speaking workers in the U.S. workforce in recent years. These employees have different needs, expectations, and skills, which present many challenges for the Maryland workers' compensation community. The sessions that follow will provide valuable insight and direction for responding to the needs of this emerging segment of the workforce.

An instructional seminar designed as a "how to" session for attendees. A panel including a Defense Attorney, Employer, and Medicare Set-Aside Allocator will provide a pragmatic review of current strategies involving settlements where Medicare Set-Aside Allocations are required.

Topics covered will include:

  • How to identify Medicare Secondary Payor cases
  • How to evaluate and address critical factors in these cases
  • How to settle cases involving Medicare as the secondary payor
  • How to compile a streamlined submission to ensure approval by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
  • How to properly respond to Medicare inquiries regarding claims that have already settled
